If you are a fan of singing competitions, you have probably heard of Amanda Mena. Yes, she was the singer who snatched the golden buzzer of Mel B on America’s Got Talent. In her 15 years, she has come a long way. She finally made it after suffering from years of bullying.
It was on a Tuesday night that she sang a stunning version of Aretha Franklin’s song called You Make Me Feel Like a Natural Woman. When the judges heard her voice, they were blown away.
Mel B complimented her and announced that she is giving a meaningful message directed to her bullies, then using her golden buzzer to send Amanda directly to the live rounds. As a rule, each judge can make use of their golden buzzer once during the whole season. In this season, Mel B uses her share on Amanda because she believes that she is deserving and has a special and unique talent. The three judges were in awe of her performance.
Mel B told Simon that Amanda’s performance is something to be remembered for a long time. Despite grabbing the golden buzzer, the teen was in total shock. The teen singer was born in the Dominican Republic. Before moving to the Boston area, she stayed there until reaching the age of 14.
As a young teen, she was bullied for not speaking and knowing the English language well. However, music and the support given by her mother has helped get through her journey. In this new platform, she hopes to inspire people who have never liked her. She said that she is putting in her music a message that encourages girls to believe that they are lovely and amazing.
