Fergie’s Response To The Scathing Remarks About Performance

With the 67th annual NBA All-Star Weekend all wrapped up, we can all say that it was an eventful weekend filled with unforgettable moments. From three-point shootouts to high-rising dunks, it was a joyous weekend for everyone indeed. Perhaps the most unforgettable moment, however, is one that had nothing to do with basketball at all! Fergie was given the honors of performing the “The Star-Spangled Banner” in front of the attendees and players alike, and it has everyone reacting in various ways!

Fergie, a 42-year-old pop singer sensation, gave the song her own spin, slowing it down into a bluesier groove. The sexy rendition of the national anthem was met with confused and comical reaction from fans and players on the court.

We even see some celebrities and players laughing on the sidelines. Fergie probably did not mean to garner these reactions, but she carried on, nonetheless, clueless to the audience behind her.

The performance was met with some very scathing reviews. People called it the worst national anthem performance ever, being put in the history books with Carl Lewis and Roseanne Barr. It’s an honor one wouldn’t want to receive when you remember how awful Roseanne’s version was.

Fergie recently responded to the backlash, claiming that she didn’t mean to earn the ire of Americans all around the world. The singer said that she wanted to try something unique and special for the big event. She then went on to express the love she had for her country and gave it nothing but her best in her performance, despite the negative reviews.

It’s safe to say that most people have taken the high road and forgiven the singer that only wanted to do her best, yet unique version of the national anthem. What did you think of the performance?
