Homeless Man Gets Close Shave With a Cop Before His Job Interview

Back in July 2018, Florida police officer Tony Carlson came upon a man outside the Circle K gas station. He noticed that the man was trying to trim his beard, and it was evident that he was struggling with it.

Instead of letting it pass, Officer Carlson got out of his car and approached him. The man’s name was Phil, and he found out that Phil was applying at a McDonald’s nearby for a janitorial position. Phil was offered the job that he desperately needed on one condition: he needed to get rid of his thick beard.

The manager informed him that there were available spots, and once he cleaned himself up, he could have the job. The only problem was, Phil had no mirror, and all he had was a used razor that was already missing one of its screws. Phil knew he needed to get that post. So, with the shaver in one hand, he blindly tried to do the task.

That was when Officer Carlson approached him, repaired the faulty razor, and offered to shave his beard. Unbeknownst to them, the whole encounter was secretly recorded by a stranger.

Greg Wallenfelsz saw the unusual pair from his vehicle. When he realized what was happening, he immediately started to record a video using his mobile phone. Greg was so touched by the police officer’s good deed that he decided to share the footage through his Facebook account.

Unsurprisingly, it went viral.

Greg’s daughter shared with CNN how amazing it was that a simple gesture could affect so many people.

Indeed, one act of kindness goes a long way. It might be something simple, but it can make a significant impact on someone’s life.
